HPE’s expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) for weather and climate research is unmatched, strengthened by its integration with Cray. This union has created a global team of experts specializing in meteorology, ocean modeling, and climate science, supporting premier institutions such as the UK Met Office, NOAA NCEP, and the U.S. Air Force 557th Weather Wing. HPE’s HPC solutions offer scalability for high- resolution numerical weather prediction (NWP) and climate modeling, operational reliability through its Performance Team, and a global reach that ensures cutting-edge forecasting and climate simulations worldwide.


HPE actively collaborates with the meteorological community through exascale initiatives, workshops, and co-development projects, driving advancements in climate modeling with AI integration and optimized HPC architectures. Its Centres of Excellence (CoEs) foster innovation in next-generation computational models and predictive analytics. In partnership with Eclipse Holdings, HPE is equipping SAWS with advanced HPC infrastructure to enhance real-time forecasting, disaster prediction, and climate simulations, ensuring South Africa remains a leader in meteorological research and operational resilience.
